The Department of Counseling, Rehabilitation, and Human Services is seeking a lecturer in Social Work starting August 19, 2024. The successful candidate will be passionate about and committed to promoting the development of an equitable and inclusive learning environment. The Department supports a variety of contemporary teaching modalities including in-person, blended, and distance learning environments. Summer work coordinating the social work certificate program is anticipated with the option to teach summer courses. This is a one-year position with intent to renew for future years.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • MSW or higher degree from a CSWE accredited graduate program 
  • One year post MSW social work practice experience

Preferred:

  • DSW/PhD in Social Work or related social science field 
  • Two or more years post MSW social work practice experience 
  • Evidence of teaching excellence or potential to develop teaching excellence
  • Potential to lead and coordinate the social work certificate program  
  • Online teaching ability and interest 
  • Demonstrated success working with diverse stakeholders 
  • Commitment to cultivating a work environment and student experience that embraces inclusion

RESPONSIBILITIES  

We are a teaching-focused campus. Instructors are expected to participate in faculty governance, curriculum development, recruitment, student academic advisement, and conduct assessment of student learning. This includes contributing to academic program assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement processes in collaboration with faculty and staff.

The successful candidate will teach social work classes, supervise field placements, and teach other human services courses as needed by the department. They will lead and coordinate the social work certificate program, demonstrate commitment to a generalist social work practice focusing on inclusion, gender, aging, mental health, and other issues. They will engage in ongoing student-centered instruction, scholarly activity including research, publication, and grant-writing; and university, professional, and/or community service. They will collaborate across disciplines and work well with others in an interdisciplinary department. The successful candidate must obtain WI Social Work Licensure within one year of hire.

UW-Stout's Social Work Professional Certificate and coursework fosters a holistic educational approach of applied learning and research, theory application and critical thinking, while also advancing students' skills and strengths to become professionals who support individuals, families, and society to overcome social problems while empowering healthier lives and environments.
