JOB DETAILS:

CATERING MANAGER

University Dining is hiring an energetic Catering Manager to supervise and oversee all catering events for UW-Stout University Dining. This position works with clients to set up events and supervises staff to execute the events on and off campus. This position also works cooperatively with the dining team to guarantee the success of Student Center operations, helping as necessary in retail areas.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum / Required

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience.
  • Three (3) years experience in foodservice operations.
  • Experience in a variety of foodservice operations, including catering.

Highly Desired

  • Experience providing catering events for large scale events.
  • Experience in a variety of foodservice operations.
  • Experience with management and supervisory practices.
  • Experience with Point-of-Sale software systems.
  • Experience with menu management software systems.
  • Experience managing food, labor, and supply costs.
  • Experience with recipe and menu development.
  • Experience with commercial foodservice equipment.
  • Three (3) years of production and/or service experience in a university/college foodservice operation.
  • ServSafe certification or equivalent certification.

RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Provides operational guidance for food service activities, identifies, develops, facilitates staff training opportunities, and/or supervises dining staff

·       Plans and directs staff implementation of operating policies and procedures to ensure adherence to safe food quality, handling, and sanitation processes and procedures

·       Monitors the unit budget and approves expenditures

·       Tracks and forecasts inventory levels and places replenishment orders

·       Directs and provides exceptional customer service, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation and associated activities

·       Develops staff resources, menus, and communication plans based on established goals

·       Maintain University Dining catering service, achieving departmental goals for sales and cost controls while meeting customer expectations.

·       Maintain University Dining service standards and assist in supervision of retail operations.

·       Collaborate with management team to manage retail operations in the Memorial Student Center.

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

University Dining includes two cafeterias (Commons and North Point Dining) and retail dining options in the Memorial Student Center (food court & convenience store), express food locations around campus, catering, and concessions. Some locations operate year-round, and others are closed during the summer months. University Dining is the largest student employer on campus.
