JOB DETAILS:


The Biology Department at the University of Wisconsin-Stout seeks two tenure-track faculty members for our target areas of molecular biology, human or animal physiology, cell biology, or genetics to join us in August 2024. We invite applications from individuals with ability to provide strong undergraduate education and active student engagement in research in one or more of our target areas.

The successful candidates will join an intellectually vibrant and engaged community invested in excellent teaching and the application of best practices in the classroom and laboratory. As a polytechnic university, we strive to provide authentic hands-on experiences to our students. We have access to diverse instrumentation in molecular and microbiology, environmental sampling, and analytical chemistry, and our facilities include terrestrial and aquatic research animal housing, a cadaver lab, BSL-2 space, and a greenhouse. Our scholarly and service activities are supported by both internal and external grants, and funds are available for professional development and student research and dissemination activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum/Required 

  • PhD earned by employment start date in physiology, molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, or a related field

Desired/Preferred 

  • Potential for excellence in teaching undergraduates in life science disciplines in both the classroom and laboratory 
  • Potential for developing a research program involving undergraduates 
  • Commitment to cultivating a work environment and student experience that embraces inclusion

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Teach undergraduate courses that support degree programs in biology and related fields, as well as general education courses, as needed. 
  • Provide student academic advisement and conduct assessment of student learning. This includes contributing to academic program assessment and continuous improvement. 
  • Conduct research that provides opportunities for undergraduate student involvement. 
  • Engage in service to the department, college, university, and/or community.
